Kicking Pacman to the Curb - Again

ESPN, which is short for “ENTERTAINMENT Sports Programming Network” reported that Pacman Jones tried to arrange to have someone shot back in 2007 and the Dallas Cowboys immediately announced that they are releasing him.

It seems like sometimes ESPN gets carried away with the “entertainment” part and not the news part, although admittedly “news” is not even part of their name. Remember how ESPN went after Michael Irvin when he was accused of participating in a rape and it was later proven he wasn’t even in the same neighborhood at the time? So much for truthful reporting and news.

While I agree whole heartedly with the Cowboy’s decision to cut Pacman from the team, ESPN has probably gone too far with this story. If the police didn’t find enough evidence that Pacman tried to have someone shot to charge hime with it, then where did ESPN come up with this accusation? I’m pretty sure that if they have evidence and have not handed it over to the police, then they are guilty of obstruction. But, if this is just another tabloid rumor, then they need to be held accountable for that as well and Pacman can sue them.

Pacman is a punk and I wouldn’t cry if he was sent away to the Big house for the rest of his life. He shouldn’t be allowed to play in the NFL again if this ESPN story turns out to be true and he is convicted of the crime. But even a punk like Pacman is innocent until proven guilty. You have to wonder if ESPN lives in the same country that the rest of us do.

Preds Lose to the Blues

My Dad and I had great seats at the hockey game last night. We were 4 rows up from the glass, about half way between the penalty box and the goal. We could see everything really great, and had a lot of hits that bounced off the glass right in front of us. The game was not filled with fights but there were some really big hits throughout the entire game, and they got stronger and more frequent as the game went on and the players got more frustrated with no score.

What bothered me the most was that Chris Mason used to be out goalie and when he had a really good year he got a little greedy and ended up being traded to St. Louis. His replacement, Dan Ellis, is a good goalie, but not as experienced nor as skilled as Mason. The game last night turned out to be a war between the goalies. Mason turned away almost twice as many shots as Ellis did, and we lost the game in a shoot out at the end. So in my mind, last night’s game proved that Mason was indeed the better goalie and they deserved the win.

Biker Soap Opera

Came across a new show that i really like called, “Sons of Anarchy.” It comes on the cable channel FX on Wednesday nights. I don’t get to watch it every Wednesday because of my work schedule. But if I miss an episode I can watch it any time the next day or two by ordering the show on the Comcast “On Demand.”

The story line is about a biker gang in California. I don’t think it is very hard core true to life, but it is better than most of the Hollywood butchered biker shows I’ve seen. Hollywood still has a heavy hand in this show, but it has believable characters and a variety of situations that keep you watching.
