Back to the Future

Never been a big fan of Friday night TV and tonight’s regular programming is typically lame. I have to stick around and help with putting up Christmas lights and other things around the house for a few hours, so my dad found the movie classic, “Back to the Future” on the Comcast “On Demand.” I remember watching this movie as a kid, and my folks were really excited about the concept, which is making a time machine and zipping around time. So it was fun having that old movie on the TV while untangling and stringing last year’s lights to hang around the windows.

Plans for Deer Hunting

Last night my dad was talking about going hunting with some of his regular buddies next week. Since Christmas Day is on Thursday, they are thinking about taking the next two days and going up to the farm to hunt. A lot of people have taken off the Friday after Christmas and a lot of businesses close for both days, anyway.

One of my dad’s friends is on the Metro SWAT team. Actually, he is more than that but we don’t have to go into it on my blog. He’s a very cool guy and he told me about a web site that he likes when he wants to shop for military, police and hunting gear. The web site is called Brigade QM and they have top quality tactical gear, everything from camo to flashlights to pepper spray.

We checked out the Bridgade QM site today and looked at their knives and gun accessories. They have Tapco, which is what my dad likes for pistol grips. The Tapco brand is also known for cleaning stars, sight tools, and rifle slings.

While on the Brigade QM web site I looked through their hydration equipment and am seriously considering buying a microfilter for emergency filtering of natural fresh water sources to make it drinkable. This would be invaluable in a serious emergency as drinking water is vital to survival.

Dumpster Diving for a Good Cause

While home on Christmas break I try to help my folks as much as I can with all the little errands and honey-do items that they never seem to get around to taking care of on their own. Like yesterday I took one of the dogs to the vet for his annual exam and shots. While I was there I noticed a sign at the desk asking for donations of clean used newspapers.

Today I was at the YMCA for a short workout and when I cae outside I noticed the dumpsters over in the side lot where I parked were full of newspapers. These newspapers were bundled up and there was nothing wrong with them except they were several days old. I figured that if they were in the dumpster they weren’t going to be missed by anyone. So I grabbed up siz bundles from the side of the dumpster and on my way home stopped off at the vet to donate the newspapers.

Wrapping up the Semester

Well I’m going to be studying my butt off these next couple of weeks for finals. I think I have a good grasp of all the subjects but I would love to ace some of these exams. Only a couple more weeks of school and then a nice long break for the holidays.

I still have to work at the hospital for most of the break, but I will be going home for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to spend the holidays with my folks. Looking forward to that.

Reaping What You Sew

This joke hit my email from my sister. She almost never sends me any email jokes, but she says that this one made her laugh. They say there is a kernel of truth in every joke. I think that is proven true with this one!

Quote of the day:
“Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she’ll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she’ll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she’ll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she’ll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.
So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit.
