Late summer is the time for rodeos all across the country. There are still two rodeos that I haven’t been to yet and I’m hoping to go to one each year after I get out of school.
I’ve alway wanted to go to Canada and the Calgary Stampede rodeo and festival every July is the perfect reason to go across our northern border.
And for the rest old west of America, the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo is 10 days of everything cowboy.

One of my buddies at work is from Pennsylvania and he goes back up there every summer during school break to visit family and also go to the Renaissance Faire in Williamsport. He and his dad invited me to go along with them this year and if I can get off from work for a couple of days I think I’m going to go. We can drive up together and then I can fly back after a couple days while they stay on to visit family.
I’ve only been to one Ren Fest before - the one they have in Tennessee every May, but I’ve missed that the past couple years being away in college. The one in Williamsport runs through June and July every year, which is perfect for having those months off from school.
True fans of a Ren Fest will get a medieval costume and go to the faire dressed as a character from Shakespeare’s days. I found a cool website that sells sexy Halloween costumes and they also have a section of medieval costumes that are perfect for Ren Fests.
We always go all out at Halloween with elaborate Costumes and huge parties. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because of the costumes and the parties. People seem to have more fun when they get dressed up in costumes, and the idea of ghosts and goblins makes the night that much more fun.

With summer now here for the college kids and just around the corner for the rest of us, many people are trying to think of places to go on vacation. Well, here are three good ideas for a vacation that is fun for the whole family. The first is a trip down to Destin, Florida. The kids will love the beach and all the sun and sand. There is plenty to do at night, such as movie theaters, parks, and also arcades. The second is Cancun, Mexico. The only thing about this is that you will need a passport, however nothing can beat the Mexican ocean, sun, and, not to mention, parties. The last is a cruise. These are somewhat expensive, but there is no comparison to the fun that a cruise can bring. You sail the ocean, soak up the sun, and did I mention all the food is free! With these ideas for a nice vacation, everyone should have a fun summer. Just remember to be safe.

This time of year the firemen throughout western and central Pennsylvania are hosting their mud sales to raise funds for the local fire departments. The mud sales are a combination flea market, auction and sidewalk sale. There can be some great bargains, they sell off all kinds of things, from antique tools found in an old barn to handmade quilts and homemade apple butter. The Lancaster area has best hunting for homemade foods and handmade quilts. If you go further west you can find some really interesting antiques. Pennsylvania is a great state with good roads and plenty to do and no sale tax on clothing. Lots of reasons to go for a long weekend and be a tourist for some adult fun. If you have a favorite B & B in Lancaster, Harrisburg, or Gettysburg, leave me a comment with the name and reservations number so I can check it out next time.

Canada has always held an allure for me. I’ve never had the chance to go across our northern border to visit, yet that is. If there won’t be a business reason for me to travel that far north, I can think of several reasons to go on my own. I would love to go to a hockey game in Canada to watch one of their good teams. Perhaps Vancouver. I would love to go to New Brunswick and take the ferry boat over to the island for the weekend, stay in a Bed & Breakfast, and talk to the locals. I know New Brunswick was the entry point for my relatives who came over to North America from England. Both side of the family had come to New Brunswick and work their way down the East Coast. Most of all, I would love to go to the Calgary Stampede. It is the biggest rodeo in Canada, held every July. It is chock full of concerts, rides, competitions and something fun for everyone regardless of age.

I’ve held off commenting on this story until I heard that Spitzer actually resigned. He had to. There was no way anyone would take him seriously anymore. You can’t have the highest public office in the state held by a criminal and a morally corrupt guy. Not in today’s world, bubba. I just wish his wife had left him to stand at that podium alone. She should have had enough self respect to make him admit his dastardly deeds by himself. But then again, she’s been married to this loser all those years, so we shouldn’t expect her to have any self respect left. What a waste.

Dog parks are popping up all over the country.
I think every city and town needs at least one.
I would love to have an off leash dog park here. If I win the lottery, it is at the top of my list.
If you’ve got some extra dough or lots of pull with the local authorities and want to look into creating a dog park in your town, look here for some basic info and useful links:
