California Aliens
A majority of the people who have moved to Tennessee come from one of three states:
- Michigan
- California
- Florida
Now I know they come here from Michigan because they want jobs in the automotive industry. We have a lot of automotive manufacturing plants within 1 miles of Nashville, and each manufacturer has hundreds of suppliers. So there are a log of jobs for auto workers.
Last year the Nissan headquarters moved here from California. We already had a lot of California immigrants because of the music business. Now we have a lot more because they came with Nissan.
I’m not sure why people come here from Florida. I suspect it is because they got sick of the hurricanes and bad weather down there, and Tennessee’s climate is not that much different from Florida as the rest of the more northern states. Plus we have a lot of job opportunities that pay a living wage. The job market in Florida is horrible.
